About our Pastor

Rev. Angel Anthony Abakah is the pastor of Ghana Wesley United Methodist Church.

He was born in Ghana-West Africa. His birth was prophesied and named two years before he was born. His mother believes that his birth was a result of her travailing prayers to God, Who honored her with a gift to the world. Rev. Abakah believes God has a great purpose for his life and his generation. He is a lover of Jesus and all of God’s people and creation. He is a product of the University of Science and Technology, Ghana, where he read B.A. Communication before traveling to the United States to pursue his Master of Divinity Degree at Drew University, Madison NJ. He is now reading his PhD degree in Theology with an expected graduation in June 2020.

At Drew University he received the best student award in the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) and the best student award in Homiletics (Preaching) respectively.

His ministry is defined in the words of the Lord Jesus Christ in Luke 4:18-19, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because God has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. God has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed. And announce that the time for the Lord’s favor has come.” Praise God!

Rev. Angel Abakah is a man of prayer who preaches, teaches, counsels, and gifted as an inspirational speaker; and believes in the sound teachings of God’s word, and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Through the ministry of the Holy Spirit, he has transformed many lives both young and old, in Africa and the United States. He believes God loves everyone and welcomes all to the Savior Jesus Christ.
